Journals and other publications:
Topics related to epilepsy were published in the journals for general
medicine, for neurology and psychiatry, in "Archives of epileptology".
The book of abstracts of 3rd International conference of ULAE was
published in 1999. The appropriate standarts of Epilepsy care across
Europe; European Declaration on Epilepsy, were translated and disseminated
our chapter.
Meetings:
3rd International Conference of ULAE in May 1999 (with 300 participants)
and 6th Symposium (with more than 100 participants) in November
1999 were held in Kyiv. The members of our chapter took part on
the East-European Conference in Crimea, at 23rd International Epilepsy
Congress.
Activities in relation to the global Campaign:
Since autumn 1997 the documents of Global Campaign were translated
and disseminated and problems were discussed on the traditional
Ukrainian League Conference and Symposia twice a year. The meetings
for the press and TV were organized. Articles and interviews on
newspapers and magazines were published; the popular information
brochures for patients, relatives, teachers, children on the initiative
and sponsorships of Asta Medica firm were published and disseminated
in Ukraine.
Summary:
For four years of the Ukrainian League functioning 11 conferences
and symposia with international participation were held and the
League has grown from 21 to 155 members. But the most important
is the fact that its members are extremely enthusiastic about the
activities of the League. They are all doing their best to promote
and develop medical assistance, research, and education program.
