Report on activities
The Slovak League Against Epilepsy has carried out numerous
activities during 1999. We have completed the 3rd round of postgraduate
lectures „epilepsy and Woman" which were presented in different
towns of Slovakia. (The first was „Diagnostic and therapeutic standard
of Epilepsy" in 1997 and second „Epileptic syndromes in infants"
in 1998). Besides of a certificate, all participants of the lectures
were provided with a handbook free of charge. A great success of
our activities is the launch of postgraduate weekend training on
Epilepsy named as „School of Epilepsy". This activity is organized
in co-operation with Postgraduate Institute of Neurology and Mediforum.
It is expected that these interactive trainings will be attended
by 150 neurologists.
There is a continued effort on editing a new handbook on Epilepsy.
The last one was published in Slovakia more than 30 years ago. SLAE
has actively participated on 23rd World Congress of Epilepsy in
Prague. Simultaneously, SLAE has been preparing the 14th Czecho-Slovak
Congress on Epilepsy which is due to take place in October 2000
in Slovakia. SLAE has continued in the co-operation with „aura"
- organization of epilepsy affected people. It also organized psychosocial
rehabilitation stays for epileptic patients, with full financial
coverage together with health insurance companies and „aura".
We have participated on the Congress of Epilepsy patients in December
1999 where Slovak epileptologists have presented their lectures.
All officers of SLAE were elected by General Assembly of SLAE in
1997.
