Award of Social Accomplishment
Every two years one individual who has carried out outstanding
activities aimed at the social benefit of people
with epilepsy, is recognised by the International
Bureau for Epilepsy and the International League
against Epilepsy. This award consists of a scroll
and a cheque of $ 10.00 (US).
The
recipient will also be invited to attend the International
Epilepsy Congress to receive his/her Award.
This year
the award will be presented to:
Joan Austin, USA: Her activities focus on the area of research.
She has systematically developed a research programme into the quality
of life for children with epilepsy and their families. Ms. has had
more than 50 publications and has presented her research findings
at every International Epilepsy Congress since 1991. Several of
her research instruments have been translated for use in non-english
speaking countries.
