ILAE Officers are elected

The results of the second phase of the ILAE elections are now in, and the Elections Commission, in consultation with Peter Wolf, President-Elect, are pleased to announce that the next Secretary-General will be Solomon Moshé of the USA; the next Treasurer will be Martin Brodie of the UK; the next First Vice-President will be Emilio Perucca of Italy; and the next Second Vice-President will be Fred Andermann of Canada. We heartily congratulate the newly elected officers and look forward to four more years of productive ILAE activities under their leadership.

Congratulations are also due to the remaining four candidates: Michel Baulac, Alla Guekht, Çigdem Özkara, and Chong-Tin Tan. It is a great honor to be nominated for office on the Executive Committee of ILAE, and all four candidates who were not elected received a substantial number of votes, indicating confidence in their leadership abilities. We are fortunate to have a wealth of capable and committed members from whom to choose our officers, as well as commission chairs and other important posts for carrying out the work of ILAE. It is not uncommon for candidates for elected office to run several times before being elected, so failure to gain office with one election should not discourage future candidacy. We need our most capable members to remain active in ILAE affairs, and hope that the candidates who did not receive enough votes to hold office in this election will continue to play a leadership role within ILAE, make themselves available as candidates in the future, and eventually hold elected office in the League.

We would like to thank Nele Devolder and the Executive Office for the accurate and efficient manner in which they carried out the election procedure this year, and all the chapters for their cooperation and participation.
